18/05/2020 - The Management of Roadside Verges - A message from Cotswolds Conservation Board

With the continuing loss of wild flower rich grasslands and the pollinators and other insects and wildlife they support, road verges are becoming increasingly important for biodiversity. Unfortunately, each year over-zealous or poorly timed mowing beyond the required safety cuts by the highway authority around junctions etc, leads to the loss of wildflowers including orchids.

06/05/2020 - Mental Health Awareness throughout the COVID-19 pandemic - A message from South Gloucestershire Council

Social distancing and self-isolating is challenging for everyone, which is why it’s so important for us to look after our mental health as well as our physical health at this time.

This can be a very scary and confusing time for children and young people. However, there are lots of resources available online to help young people look after their mental health.

06/05/2020 - Update on Sort-It Centres

Yate, Thornbury and Mangotsfield Sort-It Centres will open on Saturday, May 16  with extended opening hours of 6am to 6pm.

We advise that residents only to make the journey if essential and to check the Council’s website (https://beta.southglos.gov.uk/service-disruption/) for updates.


05/05/2020 - Tormarton and West Littleton Planning Applications

Tormarton Parish Council would like to remind all residents that if they require planning permission for works on their homes then they should still be applying for the permission from South Gloucestershire Council. The response may take a little longer due to the COVID-19 pandemic but please abide by the laws of planning for works that need it.

05/05/2020 - Tormarton and West Littleton VE Day

On the 8th May 2020, the parishioners of Tormarton and West Littleton invite you to celebrate VE Day from your own home. Please CLICK HERE to read more about how you can get involved and you can see the timings below.

 At 2:50pm a local singer who’s currently training at a London School, for a career in Musical Theatre will pay tribute to Force’s Sweetheart Vera Lynn, singing one of her most famous song on the High Street in Tormarton.

At 2:59pm a WW2 Air Raid siren will then be sounded for one minute as a prelude to the 3pm toast.

Following this our singer will then lead both villages in a group rendition of Dame Vera’s most famous song ‘We’ll Meet Again’.

Finally, the church bells will ring at 3:05pm

23/04/2020 - 2020 Annual Report

Tormarton Parish Council are delighted to share their annual report for the year ending March 2020. The Council have had a very positive year and hope to have an even more positive year this year. You can read the report by clicking here. This will also be displayed on all the Parish noticeboards around the Village.

 

23/04/2020 - Community Engagement

Tormarton Parish Council are now moving into the 21st century in this new financial year and we hope to be able to keep residents updated on our positive plan for the village as move on throughout the year. We want you to get involved with your Parish Council and let us know how we can help make Tormarton and West Littleton a great place to live. We have four very active councillors who meet at least ten times a year, deciding on what you want in the area. We want to work with everyone in our Parish and ensure that we all can make the place we live better. 22/04/2020 - Online Meetings and Public Access

From May, Tormarton Parish Council will be holding their meeting's via the ZOOM application in line with legislation passed by the UK Government. The public and press will have full access to the meeting by clicking the link on the relevant agenda's and entering the access code. We can all help to prevent the spread of germs and infection by following the advice from Public Health England:
  •  Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue and wash your hands.
  •  Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using Public Transport.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
